Running Vest Zipper Stuck? Stop and Check Before Pulling
If a pocket zip stops moving normally, release the pull and inspect the area. Fabric caught near the slider, pressure from packed items and visibly damaged hardware call for different responses. Pulling harder before identifying the issue can make the inspection more difficult.
Use the pack's care instructions and perform the check at home or at a safe stop. This guide covers external inspection, not a repair method for damaged zip hardware.
Take pressure off the pocket
If you can safely remove or reposition nearby equipment without forcing the zip, do so. Keep small items contained while inspecting. Look at whether the pocket is being stretched by a phone case, packed jacket or another bulky item.
Do not use the zip to compress a load that exceeds the usable pocket space. Check whether the closure works normally once the permitted pressure has been removed.

Inspect the visible path
Look at the fabric beside the slider and the accessible zip path. Check for visible material caught where it should not be and for damaged sections. Follow the maker's instructions if it provides a method for freeing caught fabric.
| Observation | Sensible next step |
|---|---|
| Pocket is crowded | Reorganize the load and recheck without force |
| Fabric appears caught | Follow the maker's specific instructions |
| Dirt is visible | Use the prescribed care process |
| Pull or hardware is damaged | Photograph it and ask about repair or replacement |
| Cause remains unclear | Stop repeated pulling and seek model-specific help |
Avoid introducing oil, solvents or a lubricant unless the pack maker approves it for that component. Advice for a different zip or fabric is not enough.
Check the layout after normal movement returns
If the zip operates normally after an allowed adjustment, repack the pocket with the same equipment and test again. Check that the items pass through the opening and that the closure can finish without strain.
Use the running vest packing guide to reconsider where the phone, food and layers belong. Pocket volume alone does not establish whether the shape of a particular object fits.
Do not put sharp tools against flexible water containers while rearranging the load. Keep items that may need frequent access in places you can open normally.
Make inspection part of the reset
After the outing, empty the pocket and check it again. The after-run vest reset includes a full unloading and inspection routine. Follow the care label before cleaning and let the equipment dry using its prescribed method.
Note which pocket had the problem and which item was inside. That makes it easier to reproduce the packing check before another run or to explain the issue to support.
Know when to stop troubleshooting
If the zip remains stuck, the hardware is damaged or closure is unreliable, contact the maker with the model and photos. Ask for an approved repair or replacement option. Do not present an improvised repair as a dependable closure for required equipment.
For a LECAMO pack, check the instructions and support for that exact model. A zip brand name or a product feature description does not establish how a damaged component should be repaired.
