Canada Trail Race Gear Guides: Full Kit, Layers and Refill Planning
Canadian trail events vary by route, season and race format. Your useful starting point is the equipment list for the distance you entered, followed by the clothing and supplies you expect to use between stops.
This directory starts with Bromont Ultra, The Beav and Whistler. It connects a small set of organizer sources to practical equipment preparation. It is part of the LECAMO Independent Race Gear Guides.
Upcoming events to prepare for
| Event | Dates | What to plan around | Official source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bromont Ultra | October 16–18, 2026 | Select the trail running event rather than a mountain-bike format | Organizer news |
| The Beav | November 7, 2026 | Distance-specific aid and reusable drinking containers | Organizer registration page |
| Whistler by UTMB | Race days June 26–27, 2027 | Mountain kit and final edition instructions | Organizer |
Check individual start arrangements and registration status on the official pages. Race-date confirmation does not mean every runner or crew document is final.
Turn the clothing list into a packed load
Lay out what you must carry and what you intend to wear. Keep those groups separate during the first check. A jacket you plan to wear at the start still needs a storage location if you remove it later.
Put your intended extra layer in a protective bag if you need it to remain dry. Check how much room it takes in its packed form. Then make the same check with the layer out: loose space can change how the load moves.
Use our electronics and rain protection guide for storage checks. It does not turn a running vest into waterproof equipment.
Practice the drinking-container routine

Read the organizer's rule on cups, bottles and flasks. These terms can have different meanings between events. Determine what you need for drinking at a station and what you need to carry water onward.
Keep a reusable cup reachable without unloading the main storage area. Practice opening it, using it and storing it separately from items you want to keep dry. Our cupless race guide covers that sequence.
Compare distances using the whole kit
A shorter event may still require a phone or emergency items. A longer event can add lighting, layers or reserve supplies. Copy the current list for your actual distance and check each item against the organizer's wording.
Use our sizing guide after filling your containers and packing the vest. Reach for both front pockets, bend and walk uphill. If reaching a cup shifts the pack, reconsider its location.
Keep edition information separate
Whistler's crew page says the 2027 crew guide will appear closer to the event and links the previous guide in the meantime. Use that as background until current instructions are available. Finalize your handoff and meeting arrangements from the correct edition.
