The Beav Trail Race Gear Guide: Cups, Layers and 50K Light Access

At The Beav, your drinking-container routine matters before you reach the first aid station. The next question is whether your chosen distance and expected finish time make your lighting arrangement useful.

Use this guide alongside the Canada race directory. It separates selected organizer information from LECAMO packing suggestions.

What the organizer currently says

The organizer registration page lists November 7, 2026 at Hilton Falls, Milton, Ontario, with 10K, 25K and 50K formats. The 50K repeats the 25K route twice. The organizer says the event is cupless: carry a collapsible cup or bottle for aid-station refills.

For 50K runners expecting more than eight hours, it advises bringing a headlamp or flashlight. Listed aid arrangements are subject to the permit. Verify final locations before assigning a refill plan.

Rehearse the cupless stop

Start with the container you intend to use. Remove it with the vest on, open it, refill and put it back. If you carry a cup as well as bottles, give it its own spot and keep the wet cup away from dry clothing.

After refilling a front flask, check that it sits securely with your actual supply inside. A pocket can feel different when the container is fuller. The cupless race guide helps you rehearse the handling sequence.

Pack a layer you can remove again

Check the forecast close to the event and choose clothing for the conditions you expect. Reserve a storage location for a layer you may take off. Use a protective bag where you need the contents to remain dry.

Put the layer in, take it out and put it back while the other gear remains packed. The point is to test the transition rather than only seeing whether the jacket fits once. Our rain storage guide covers protection and pocket separation.

Arrange the 50K load around two visits

A repeated route creates a chance to review your supplies if the event permits the access you intend to use. Check the actual instructions rather than assuming a start/finish return allows every kind of outside assistance.

Keep the supplies you need now apart from those you plan to use later. At a permitted stop, follow the same order you practiced: check water, refill, replenish food, clear wrappers and close the pack.

Item group Suggested location Rehearsal question
Drinking container Reachable front storage Can you refill and replace it smoothly?
Light, if carried Pocket accessible under your layers Can you retrieve it before darkness?
Extra clothing Protected larger storage area Can you remove it without unloading food?
Wrappers Separate small storage spot Can you see what food is still unused?

This is a packing suggestion, not a full mandatory-equipment table.

Keep light access separate from spare storage

If you expect to use a light, do not bury it underneath your replacement clothing. Test its controls and attachment before the event. Use the headlamp guide to check access with the vest and layers on.

Final check

Confirm the current equipment list, aid arrangements and support limits. Then fit the complete intended load using our sizing steps. Check the vest with water filled and again after some water has been used.

The preparation routine remains useful even when race details change. Update the organizer facts in your plan before treating the kit as ready.
